Banta was created by Los Angeles based graphic designer Bret Banta in 2006. He’s been a skateboarder all his life but has always been fascinated by the ocean, surfing and scuba diving. After designing skateboards for Deluxe and World Industries, as well as being a designer for Rasa Libre and art director for IPATH footwear, he decided to try out a few designs of his own under Banta. In 2014, Bloomingdales carried a limited edition Banta line for their Holiday season.
